Overview
- To connect Ramp for FE with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT, the user completing the setup must have the required Blackbaud Marketplace and Financial Edge NXT permissions.
- These permissions allow Ramp for FE to connect to Financial Edge NXT, sync accounting information, and support the features your organization chooses to use. The permissions listed below are the minimum recommended permissions, but your organization may require additional access based on internal security policies or how Financial Edge NXT is configured.
Who needs these permissions?
- The Financial Edge NXT user who authorizes or manages the Ramp for FE connection should have the required Marketplace and Financial Edge NXT roles.
- In some cases, users may also need additional record-level permissions depending on their job responsibilities and the features your organization uses.
Required Marketplace permissions
- At minimum, the user should have access to the following Marketplace application permissions:
| Permission | Required? | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Connect | Yes | Allows the user to connect Ramp for FE to Financial Edge NXT |
| Disconnect | Yes | Allows the user to disconnect the application if needed |
| Approve scope changes | May be required | May be needed if Financial Edge NXT requires approval for new or changed application scopes |
- Some Financial Edge NXT environments may require all three Marketplace permissions. The source document shows Connect and Disconnect as the minimum permissions, with Approve scope changes potentially required depending on the environment.
Required Financial Edge NXT roles
- Accounts Payable Role- The Accounts Payable role should include access to the records and tasks Ramp for FE may need when syncing payable-related data.
- Required permissions include:
| Area | Required access |
|---|---|
| Vendors | View, Add, Edit |
| Credit Memos | View, Add, Edit |
| Invoices | View, Add, Edit |
| Purchase Orders | View, Add, Edit |
| Receipts | View, Add, Edit |
| Queries | Access Queries – Standard |
| Code Tables | Access (Media Type, Payment Terms, Vendor Type, Location, Department, Journal, Credit card type) |
| Payables Processing | Access |
- General Ledge Role- The General Ledger role should include access needed to view accounting structures and manage journal-related activity.
- Required permissions include:
| Area | Required access |
|---|---|
| Accounts | View on all |
| Projects | View on all |
| Queries | Access Queries – Standard |
| Journal Entries | Regular Batch: View, Edit, Approve, Create, Validate |
| Ledger Processing | Access |
The user should also have access to General Ledger code tables such as Class, Department, Journal, Location, Media Type, Project Department, Project Location, Project Status, Project Types, and Transaction Codes 1–5.
- Shared Components Role- The Shared Components role is needed for shared financial information used by the integration.
- Required permissions include:
| Area | Required access |
|---|---|
| Bank Account Information | View, if applying payments |
| Accounts Payable | View and Access, if applying payments |
| Shared Tables | Access on all |
These permissions are especially important if your organization uses Ramp for FE to apply payments or work with shared accounting tables.
Important notes-
- Permissions may vary based on your organization’s Financial Edge NXT configuration. Some permissions may not be required until a specific feature is used. When new permissions are needed, Financial Edge NXT may require the user to approve scope changes through Marketplace permissions.
